Participants of this course will gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence to respond in a first aid situation across a number of settings including workplace & local community. The course is run in accordance with the guidelines of the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. Students will enjoy a fun and informative scenario-based training with access to the very latest first aid equipment.

About the Course

If your professional role involves working in an ESI (Electrical Supply Industry) environment with live, low voltage switchboards, then knowing how to help someone being electrocuted and perform a low voltage rescue (or LVR) is an essential workplace skill.
This ESI course incorporates vital first aid skills with recognising a potentially hazardous environment and the subsequent measures to avoid injury/further injury. Simulations focus on the most common first aid situations ESI employees face.

Pre-requisites
There are no formal prerequisite units required for entry into this course. Learners will require English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills.

  • Combines UETDRRF004 Perform rescue from a live LV pane & HLTAID009 CPR
  • In class – 4 hours
  • In class – 6-8 hours
  • Theory based training – in a relaxed and fun environment
  • Written assessment – Multiple-choice quiz
  • Practical assessment – Apply CPR & First aid skills
  • Applying relevant work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements
  • Identifying hazards and minimising risks
  • Identifying and labelling the isolation point
  • Inspection of rescue equipment
  • Safe approach distances SAD appropriate to rescue from a live LV panel
  • Isolating live LV panel apparatus and safely removing the victim
  • Perform CPR on an adult & infant (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)

FAQ

Standard is for anyone who hasn’t previously done a course Express courses are for individuals who have completed the course previously and are looking to refresh their skills
– ARC (Australian resuscitation council) recommends that CPR should be renewed every 12 months
– LVR has a 12-month validity and must be completed every 12 months by anyone working LIVE
– HLTAID010, 011, 012 & 014 are valid for 3 years
Yes they are, all first aid course are nationally recognised under ABC First Aid RTO 3399
