Advanced First Aid

HLTAID014

Provide Advanced First Aid is a unit of competency designed for person/s who need or desire more first aid training than the basic one provides. It’s a full day course and covers a broad range of advanced skills providing you with high-level capabilities in the management of large events, major trauma, sudden cardiac arrests (SCA), and other medical emergencies.
It is run in line with the first aid guidelines of the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. Students will enjoy a fun and informative scenario-based training with access to the very latest first aid equipment.

About the Course

Previous first aid knowledge & experience is recommended, suitable for construction workers in remote areas, farm hands, heavy industries, sports officials, anyone requiring advanced first aid certification or members of the general community looking to progress their first aid skills.
This course goes one step further, it provides advanced knowledge to apply first aid principles in an emergency response and life support situation until medical assistance arrives. Many accident scenes are of a complex, time-sensitive, or life-threatening nature. While basic first aid training might allow you to “hold the fort” until help arrives, there are times when quickly providing the proper care can be a matter of life or death. Instruction on basic first aid and CPR will be provided, as well as treatments specific to advanced conditions, such as hypothermia or hyperthermia, head, neck and spinal injuries, using tourniquets and haemostatic dressings for life-threatening bleeding, and managing a casualty in shock.
