HLTAID010

The course provides participants with basic skills & knowledge, to respond confidently in a first aid situation across a number of settings including workplace & local community. It’s run-in accordance with the guidelines of the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. Students will enjoy a fun and informative scenario-based training with access to the very latest first aid equipment.

About the Course

Suitable for participants above 14 years of age. This course is designed for first time learners & the general community, preparing you with essential skills & knowledge to recognise and assess a cardiac emergency, call for medical assistance, apply CPR in a real-life emergency, including the correct use of an AED (Automatic external defibrillator) until medical assistance arrives.

Pre-requisites
There are no formal prerequisite units required for entry into this course. Learners will require English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills.

  • Combines HLTAID009 CPR, HLTAID010 Basic life support
  • Theory based training – in a relaxed and fun environment
  • Written assessment – Short multiple-choice quiz
  • Practical assessment – Apply CPR & first aid skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply DRSABCD
  • Respond to an unconscious casualty
  • Perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult and infant manikin
  • Effectively work in a two-person operated CPR
  • Administering an autoinjector for anaphylaxis
  • Administering asthma medication
  • Bleeding and shock
  • Assisting someone choking
  • Managing casualties with non-life-threatening injuries
  • Communicate in an emergency situation

FAQ

Standard is for anyone who hasn’t previously done a course Express courses are for individuals who have completed the course previously and are looking to refresh their skills
– ARC (Australian resuscitation council) recommends that CPR should be renewed every 12 months
– LVR has a 12-month validity and must be completed every 12 months by anyone working LIVE
– HLTAID010, 011, 012 & 014 are valid for 3 years
Yes they are, all first aid course are nationally recognised under ABC First Aid RTO 3399
